Hello, my name is Vadim Nardin.
People who do what they like are considered to be lucky. I’m very lucky to be among them. But I don’t think myself to be a professional photographer, I prefer to be called an amateur, a person who just loves what he does. I believe that love for one’s own occupation is one of the most important parts of one’s happy life.
I became keen on taking photos about five years ago and worked at it with a changing activity as I wanted to try myself in different spheres, but during the last year I realized that of all the things I was occupied with-taking photos is something that interests me most of all, that it’s something that is really close to my heart. My reaching the final of the one of the most significant photo-contests in the world World Photography Awards 2010 that took part in Cann helped me to make my choice. It gave me a new impulse in my creative activity.
Every genre in taking photos is good in its own way. But having tried taking photos of naked girls once at the very beginning of my photo-way, I understood that taking pictures of flowers and birds does not appeal to me at all. I’m much more interested in people, to be exact, girls and, to be fully exact, naked girls.
I try to take photos of a naked body the way I feel, not always paying attention to some moral boundaries, but at the same time trying not to cross the line of vulgarity. During the process of photography I try to fall in love with every model to feel her beauty better. In my opinion, the relations between a photographer and a model play a decisive part in the success of photography.
With the help of my works I do not try to impose my own seeing and my own opinion, I just try to arouse feelings. I suppose that a photo that arouses reaction is a good one. A good picture should make one’s heart beat twice faster.
In my creative activity I give priority to the idea and the appeal of a photo rather than to its technical side, that’s why many of my works are made with the help of an ordinary camera without any illuminating equipment or assistants.
I prefer not to give names to my works not to limit my spectaculars while thinking over the photo as many of them try to see what they need-their own reflection.
There’s one utterance that I really love: “A photographer takes pictures of what he can sell, a good photographer sells what he takes photos of.” I want to be a good photographer.
I’m glad that through this book I can share my view on this wonderful and thrilling genre of photography with you.
Sincerely yours, Vadim Nardin.
